per.spec.tive: A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view
One of the most difficult things for me to do is to sit down and write after being absent for a while and it’s been a busy couple of weeks. Writing is like any other routine or habit in that once you stop, it’s difficult to begin again regardless of how important you think it is or how willing you are.
I’ve been doing some soul searching lately regarding my blog as to whether or not to continue writing. I sometimes wonder if my content is relatable enough or interesting enough or if it’s making a difference in the lives of my readers. When I began this writing journey, it was never my intent to write for entertainment value…but with a sense of purpose. I’ve been doing this for a couple of years now and I’ve definitely felt the love and support of my readers. You have kept me committed and motivated so far but I’ve been wondering lately if I’m really doing enough.
Every time I think of heading in a new direction with my content, I’m reminded that what sells or attracts is “authenticity” and the truth is…authentic is the only way that I really know how to be. I write from my heart and what you read is pretty much who I am, what I think and how I feel.
You may have noticed that I changed the name of my blogging website to Life.Simple.Perspective. I decided to leave the “whispering” to the dog whisperer, the ghost whisperer and the horse whisperer because I’ve come to realize lately that sometimes I don’t even like people; especially when I get on the highway or read what’s happening in the world today.
I enjoy reading other writer’s blogs for inspiration but then I find myself comparing my content and style to theirs and I start second guessing myself. It seems to be much easier for me to stay in my lane and continue doing what’s worked for me so far but keeping in mind that there’s always room for improvement. Your feedback is always encouraged and welcomed by the way.
I chose Life.Simple.Perspective because I like to write about the way I view the world…sometimes through the eyes of faith, sometimes from a childlike perspective but usually from a “simple” perspective. Perspective and opinion are actually pretty similar in definition. I prefer perspective over opinion however because…well…you know what they say about opinions. To me perspective is more about having a broader point of view, a change of heart or attitude, finding the silver lining, “out of the box” thinking, open mindedness.
I used to give a friend a ride to work and we would talk about everything. He would always tell me how much he enjoyed our chats; how he really liked my “perspective” on things and how it changed his way of thinking.
So there you go…Life.Simple.Perspective.
Thanks for reading my blogs. Thanks for commenting. Thanks for sharing and most of all thanks for your support. Without you my writing would have no meaning or purpose.
