Are you a worrier? We all tend to be at times, and when I worry I turn to inspirational resources like podcasts that help me to keep things in perspective. I’ve been listening to a few lately on stress management and here’s what I’ve learned.
If we want the kind of peace that passes all understanding (Philippians 4:7), there are five “simple” things God says we must do to have it.
- Worry about nothing (easier said than done)
- Pray about everything (no matter how big or small)
- Thank God in all things (have gratitude)
- Keep your mind on good things (focus on the positive and not the negative)
- Be content in all things (live in the moment)
There are more than 2000 new self-help books released every year, but the Bible is still the best self-help book ever written. It addresses all of our daily living problems, it comes with a great counselor who is on call 24/7 (no health insurance required) and God gives us the power to carry things out.
Here are a few more thoughts on worry before I end with an appropriate, albeit a little “cheesy”, funny song. Be sure to check out Bobby McFerrin’s big toe wiggle and say hello to a gone but not forgotten friend Robin Williams.
Worry only exaggerates the problem. –Rick Warren
Worry is not natural, it is learned. We can unlearn worry. -Rick Warren
An anxious heart weighs a man down (causes depression) but a heart at peace gives life to the body. -Proverbs 12:25
Have a great day everyone and remember…don’t worry, be happy.
So needed to read this my friend! Great reminder
Of Gods care over us during the storms of life.
Thanks Robin.
